Welcome to the Guy-Lacombe Institute of the Family website!
We are a Family Resource Center in the Alberta Family Resource Network. We provide support to French-speaking families in Edmonton, and in northern Alberta.
We also offer certain paid services, including a French-language library and toy library, and after-school childcare.
Our Vision Mandate Mission
The Guy-Lacombe Family Institute is committed to helping families in Alberta optimize their knowledge, skills and competencies in French to achieve their well-being.
Thanks to families who thrive in French, the Francophone community of Alberta is strong, dynamic, visible and enriches society as a whole.
The Guy-Lacombe Family Institute accomplishes its mission by intervening in the following fields:
- Support for families in their growth: personal and social, cultural, identity and linguistic.
- Parenting skills education.
- Family resource center.
- Integration and reintegration of French into the home in terms of identity, culture, sense of belonging.
- Promotion of the mental and physical health of the family in terms of prevention, early detection and intervention.
The GLIF offers a day care service to welcome children from Francophone schools in Gabrielle-Royand Ste-Jeanne-d’Arc after their school day.
This service is intended for children from Kindergarten to Grade 6.
The service is offered Monday to Friday from 3:45 p.m. to 6 p.m.
